1)
Determine wire sizes to be installed into the stopper
2) Add or
remove sleeves and plugs to accommodate the wire sizes.
( Fig. 1)
3) Insert
wires into appropriate stopper pockets. (Fig.2)
4) Insert
stopper with wires in place into the conduit. The
stopper should slide on the wires as the Copper Keeper
is inserted into the conduit.
5) Insert
all except the last inch of the unit into the conduit
opening. (Fig 3)
6) While
holding the un-inserted portion of the rubber stopper
extending outside the conduit – begin to tighten the
compression bolt.
7) As the
compression bolt is tightened, the stopper diameter will
increase. Continue until the rubber has expanded to just
snuggly slide into the conduit.
8) Now,
push the Copper Keeper into the conduit. The wire should
still slide in the pocket or sleeve. If the fit is too
tight, loosen the compression bolt until it will allow
fitting into the conduit.
9)
To
properly insert the copper Keeper in place, push it
approximately 1/4” past the opening of the conduit. (Fig
4)
10) While
holding the wires to help stabilize the Keeper, continue
to tighten the compression bolt to the recommended
torque for the size Copper Keeper being used. (Fig 4)
11) The
Copper Keeper is now properly fitted into the conduit.
